The skills data is based on the text of job postings. An AI model reads each posting and identifies the skills and the profession it asks for. Mentions are then summed across the whole dataset.
Rising skills are those whose mentions grew the most compared with the previous period of equal length. The most in-demand professions are ranked by number of postings. If the comparison period has too few postings, no percentage change is shown. Figures from international postings are labelled separately.
Where the skills data comes from
The skills data is based on the same Finnish sources as the rest of the service: company career pages, recruitment platforms and public posting channels. It also includes international and Nordic postings, which are marked separately in the views. The same posting from several sources is counted once.
How to read the figures
A high growth percentage for a single skill can come from a small starting point, so always look at the number of mentions too. The most reliable signal is a change that holds over several periods. Job titles vary between employers, so the same job can appear under several names. The international data shows where the tech industry is heading globally, not the situation in Finland directly.
What the skills data can be used for
Educational institutions can follow which skills employers ask for and use that when planning what to teach. Job seekers and career changers can see which skills are in demand and where demand is growing. Companies can compare their own skill needs with the market.
